Interviewer: What inspired you to write books and become an author?

My gift of writing was divinely inspired by God based on the trauma that I had experienced in my life as a child and a young adult. There were offenses and violations that had occurred and I was sworn to secrecy. Those things became the foundation for how I managed my life that resulted in failed relationships. An old adage says, “What’s done in the dark will definitely come to light”. God began to awaken me with powerful prayers over and over again each night and I proceeded to write them. It led to me seeking God deeper, which motivated me to write and hear His subtle voice. My admiration of writing grew deeper and the hidden secrets emerged into a novel. What I was once ashamed of is now a tool to empower and uplift women that have experienced the same type violations and insults.

Interviewer: Tell the readers about your books, “From Pain To Purpose: A Bridge Over Troubled Waters and Greater Works?”

From Pain to Purpose is a journey of how strong the power of God is, even in our darkest moments. When we have not acquired the knowledge of what our purpose is and the why of the offenses, it becomes a mask of hiding destruction and chaos that occurs in our hearts, minds and spirits resulting in insecurities. However, it gives the insatiable desire and will to fight through tears and disappointments. It describes the quietness and isolation that occurs while separated from all others and from the world that bridges the purpose to trusting God with the secret pains of our beings. It may take a lifetime to comprehend how high, how deep and how wide the power of God is that reigns in our lives.

Nevertheless, He keeps us from falling and gives us hope to continue by trusting, leaning and growing in Him so that the purpose actually exceeds the pain. This book will reveal to you how the Holy Spirit will transform you from hurt and hopelessness to walking victoriously with God.

Greater Works is a compilation of prayers by women who prayed based on their personal and spiritual experience from their walk with God. There were many sleepless nights, fallen teardrops and heartfelt prayers to the Lord, trusting and holding to His unchanging hands to deliver, set free, heal, or simply show up. The Psalmist said it best that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. That midnight hour may have lasted for days, weeks, months, or even years as they believed God to resolve their situations. Liken the oak tree, their waiting symbolized strength, morale, resistance and knowledge. The tree is known for its towering strength that is often associated with honor, nobility, wisdom, longevity and deep roots. These women stood the test of time and received grace after grace from God. Today, they witness through their prayers how God was a bridge over troubled waters.

Interviewer: Where can your books be purchased?

From Pain to Purpose and Greater Works can both be purchased on my website: JMPinckneyPublishing.com and Amazon.com. From Pain to Purpose can also be purchased from Barnes and Noble and Books-A-Million.

Interviewer: What advice would you give to people who are thinking about writing a book?

Maya Angelou profoundly penned that “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” Writing is healing and powerful at the same time because it allows growth from painful situations, and it influences others to dream beyond their wildest imaginations. It’s a craft, a gift and an awesome talent to write your thoughts that gains the attention of family, friends and even strangers. If you have a story; share it because the world is waiting to read it.

Interviewer: Do you have any upcoming books to be released?

Interviewer: Give us some words to educate, inspire, and encourage women and all of our readers of Growth Women’s Business Networks Magazine.

Women are a powerful source of humankind. We have the strength to bare and raise children; take care of a family and work a full-time job, while aspiring to be great individuals. Kamala Harris is the face of a diverse and successful woman that have exceeded the odds of becoming not just a mother, and a wife but an African American Woman who will become the first Vice President of the United States of America. Like Michelle Obama said, “The difference between a broken community and a thriving one is the presence of women who are valued.” Whatever God has placed in your heart, use it as a gift to be a blessing to others. Always, invest in yourself because you are worth it. Your knowledge will inspire and encourage other women to fulfill their highest potential. In the words of King Lemuel in Proverbs 31, Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.
