Author Bio:

Born and raised in Jamaica, I’ve had a passion for writing since I was ten years old. I’ve always dreamed of becoming an author, and today, I write stories that aim to inspire, motivate, and uplift the next generation.

As the author of A Little Girl’s Dream and A Big Day for Little Leo, my mission is to help children embrace their true selves, face life’s challenges with courage, and grow in confidence. My stories are rooted in the belief that every child deserves to feel seen, celebrated, and empowered.

Through The Bookspiration Garden, I hope to cultivate imagination and joy, just like a garden nurtures growth. Whether a child is chasing a dream or stepping into something new, I want them to believe in themselves every step of the way.

Author Spotlight Interview

Please introduce and tell the readers about yourself?

My name is Aneika Turnbull. I was born and raised in Jamaica and have been living in Florida for a little over 10 years. I’ve loved writing since I was ten years old and have dreamed of becoming an author ever since. I've always had a passion for inspiring others through my writing. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, and I'm currently pursuing my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Outside of writing, I enjoy spending time with my family and loved ones, traveling, watching movies, and reading my Bible. Worship is a big part of my life, and I hope my journey can be an inspiration to others.

Author Aneika Turnbull, I absolutely love that you write inspirational children's books. Tell the readers about your book, “A Little Girl’s Dream.” What inspired you to write this book?

Thank you! A Little Girl’s Dream is a heartwarming story about Ayana, a little girl with Cerebral Palsy who dreams of becoming a singer. The inspiration for this book came from my own experience of going to school with children who had disabilities. Seeing how they were sometimes treated in society really stayed with me. I wanted to create a story that celebrates differences and reminds others that it’s often our unique challenges that make us beautiful. Your situation or physical limitations do not define your worth, you are no less because of them. That’s the message I hope readers walk away with.

Congratulations on your new children’s book, “A Big Day for Little Leo.” Tell the readers'  about your book “A Big Day for Little Leo” and the reason you wrote it.

Thank you so much! A Big Day for Little Leo is a heartfelt story about courage, kindness, and learning to be yourself, especially during new or uncertain experiences like starting school. It follows Leo as he navigates his first day in a brand-new environment, something many children (and even adults!) can relate to. I wanted to encourage young readers facing change or anxiety, to let them know that it’s okay to be nervous and that it’s okay to be themselves. The book even includes positive affirmations on the last page to help uplift and motivate kids. It’s a story that both children and adults can find inspiration in.

Where can the readers purchase copies of your books?

You can find my books on Amazon and other major book retailers. They’re also available through my website at www.thebookspirationgarden.com, where you can find direct links to each book.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about writing children’s books, but do not know how to get started?

Start with the message. Think about what you want your readers to walk away with. What kind of inspiration or impact do you want to leave behind? Once you have that, build your story around it.

Do you have any upcoming books to be released?

I have a few ideas I’m really excited about, but nothing is officially in the works just yet. Stay tuned, there’s definitely more to come.

What words of inspiration would you like to give to the readers?

Believe in your dreams and goals, and trust God every step of the way. Even when the path seems unclear, keep going. You were created with purpose, and your story, just like your life, has meaning. Keep dreaming, keep believing, and let your light shine.
